How To Buy French Wine

A French wine has its own individual ranking system. A table wine has the lowest rank and is the cheapest. Local wines are ranked a bit higher. These wines are produced in certain regions of France.

A highly ranked category of French wine is the aristocratic wine. This wine is purchased by collectors and sold at wine auctions for unbelievable amounts of money. When this wine is manufactured, it is under extremely rigid standards. If a grape harvest has been plentiful, there is a very strict limit to produce the elite wines. Manufacturing is limited however due to the it being prestigious.

When choosing an elite French wine you must look carefully at the label. The label should not be overly colorful. The more plain and simple the label is the better the wine. When choosing a higher-class wine it must have three words in the inscription. The three words should be in this order: First – Appellation which is the winemaking community or the word Chateau with means Castle. The second word should be the name of either the community or castle. In addition, the third word means control, which means the wine is controlled by descent. Very often, these three words are printed in very small font. If the font is not small, it is not an elite wine. Very often, the inscription is found on the label after the name of the vineyard.

You have to choose a French wine carefully and pay close attention to what region the wine is from. The most famous wines are Bordeaux and Burgundy wines. A Chateau is located inside the Bordeaux wine growing areas. This wine goes by individual wine making households therefore you must pay attention to the name of the castle. Each Chateau wine has its own flavor and bouquet. Even if there are many castles in the same region, all making the same wine, each wine is still individual. Each Chateau carries its own special wine secrets. Bordeaux, burgundy is known for the wine growing communities that belong to possibly several producers. You need to pay attention to the producer of the wine. French burgundy wine’s taste and smell depends on the producer. The corks with both Chateau and Bordeaux wines are of great importance. The cork must be made from cork oak bard. The name of the community and the year of the harvest must be printed on the cork. The way to judge an expensive French wine is by the length of the cork. A cork that is short is usually the sign of a cheap French wine. All corks are changed every 15 years. This is just some of the advice you should use when choosing a fine French wine. The most famous and most elite wine bottle is called the Magnum. The Magnum is used for high quality wines of the best years.
